Meet Matt
Welcome! My name is Matt Young. I hold PhD in Public Policy with and emphasis in Fiscal Policy and Market Competitiveness from the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Kentucky.
I am dedicated to public service, working in economic and policy analysis and program evaluation. I bring causal data analytics skills that are used to determine impacts and potential outcomes for tax payers in a variety of fields. I have experience working in tax policy, antitrust policy, housing policy, Medicare and Medicaid policy, and public assistance programs such as SNAP, TANF, Public Housing, and Child Care Assistance.
I have the tools to speak about policies from taxation to education, and I have the skillset to explain them using principles from academic disciplines like economics and psychology. I'd love to offer you my insights!

Areas of Expertise
Program Evaluation
Using my advanced training in causal analysis I am able to precisely determine the impact of changes in a policy or program on an organization and its stakeholders. This eliminates the guesswork and ambiguity behind strategic shifts by identifying what works, and just as importantly, whether success was coincidental or a direct consequence of programmatic decisions
Data
With the technical expertise that comes with a quantitative PhD, I use R and Tableau to perform analysis on big datasets and create visuals to make content interesting and understandable. I also have the skills to test whether a policy change, or issue dynamic can be the cause of a certain outcome, or just corollary to it.
Economic Policy
When the rules of the game change, it can be difficult to understand what the impact may be. Whether you are seeking to change policy, or trying to understand how it impacts you, I bring the tools needed to understand and assess what changes are likely in consumer behavior and in competitive markets when economic regulations and fiscal or monetary policy changes.
